The guys were out early on Thursday morning. They finished the last bits of gravel and spread the final fabric pieces to tuck our gravel in nice and cozy. They placed spikes to mark the depth for the concrete.

They put wood in front of the “well” to keep the concrete out.

Concrete Pump
Concrete Pump

Concrete is poured out of the truck into this concrete pump. There is a giant screw to keep the concrete moving so it won’t set up as it is pumped through the hose and into our footers.

They connected enough pieces of hose to reach from the road to the furthest corner of the house.

The concrete is pumped in through this long hose. They put spikes in the ground so that when they pull the hose it still stays where they want it.

I was a little worried at first because they were still pounding in the spikes to be sure the depth was right, but there was nothing to worry about. It takes a long time and a lot of cement to fill these giant moats we have.

As the concrete pumped into the trench, they smoothed and leveled it.

They smoothed the top of the cement as it went in.

They were very organized. Just as one truck was emptying, the next truck was pulling in.

Truck after truck. They back up and start pouring concrete into the trailer with the pump.
