Nature’s Head Self Contained Composting Toilet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Composting Toilets<\/h2>\n

Composting toilets don\u2019t use any water to flush. They separate liquids from solids. Liquids go into a tank that has to be emptied every two or three days. There is a bin with organic material that solids go into. You crank it like a compost bin after each use. Solids have to be emptied ever two weeks to a month, depending on how much you use it. You are supposed to throw the solids away with your garbage or find a place to bury it.<\/p>\n

One of the campers we looked at had a macerator toilet. It uses a black water tank, but there is a grinder on it, like the grinder in a garbage disposal.<\/p>\n

Incinerator Toilets<\/h2>\n

Incinerator Toilets use electricity to cremate your remains into practically nothing. There is no water. \u00a0This one is made by Incinolet. It starts at $2,299.00 and has to have 120 volts\/2000 watts on a 20 amp dedicated circuit.<\/p>\n

I don’t see how this could be a realistic choice for a camper, but I guess it could work in a tiny house.<\/p>\n

5 Gallon Bucket with a Toilet Seat<\/h2>\n

They make toilet seats that fit on buckets. They also make heavy plastic liners and lids that seal. This is the least expensive option, but not one I considered.<\/p>\n

There are fancier versions of the bucket with a seat, too.<\/p>\n
