We removed the window on the left side of the door. It gave a nice balanced look to the front of the house, but was just going into a closet. I plan to hang something there instead, like the wreath in the drawing above. I moved that window to the main bathroom. I have some questions about the elevations, location of the garage door and the carport, which looks ready for an RV.<\/p>\n<p>The front porch is better than it looks. We added a really big 12\u2032 x 28\u2032 back porch.<br \/>\nWe moved the master bedroom 4\u2032 so that we can have a door open from the bedroom to the porch. We gave the added space to our closet, so we have a super big walk-in closet from the master bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher Homes gives you a per-square-foot price for your home. If you add square footage, just multiply it by that price and that\u2019s how much it\u2019ll cost. We added this window, which is to the \u201cowner\u2019s bath.\u201d On the original plans, there are no windows on the sides on this plan. This side will face the other street. They are nearly complete. We moved the opening to the closet and added another door, so that it will open from the foyer instead of from the hallway. This will make it much easier to get things in and out of it. (Probably a lot of folding tables and chairs.) This closet is 4\u2032 x 6\u2032 7 1\/2\u2033. The foyer is 8\u2032 x 6\u2032 7 1\/2\u2033.<\/p>\n<p>Aren\u2019t these great plans? A giant laundry room which I plan to also use as a sewing room and space for any other project. A linen closet! Plenty of kitchen cabinet space!<\/p>\n<p>We moved the bedroom to have a door onto the porch. We used the space for more closet. We moved the hot water heater into the garage. This gives more space in the laundry room. (Laundry room!) Eventually I would love to put an upright freezer there.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few other changes we have made that are not on these plans yet. We are removing the cabinets in the \u201cpocket office.\u201d The washer and dryer will back against the closet wall instead of the hallway to the master bedroom, so we will be less likely to hear the washer and dryer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/building-our-new-schumacher-home-progress-report\/\">Progress Report ><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve selected a floor plan from Schumacher Homes.
