This is the part of the process I have had the most questions about, so I&#8217;m telling you everything I&#8217;ve seen.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13780\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13780\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/sill_plate_detail.jpg?resize=500%2C350&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13780\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13780\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sill Plate Detail Plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westwoodcabins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Westwood Cabins<\/a><br \/>OSB Filler<br \/>Decorative Trim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The cabin is attached to the foundation and has passed another inspection, so we can move on and cover the work.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13762\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13762\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/insulated_trim-c.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13762\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13762\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">They filled the gaps with pressure treated wood to make an even surface for the ZIP System OSB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The carpenter added PT (pressure treated) wood between the rails so that there is&nbsp; an even surface to nail to.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13764\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13764\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/insulated_trim.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13764\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13764\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ZIP System OSB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Next the plan calls for OSB Filler to attach to the perimeter rail and sill plate.<\/p>\n<p>OSB is Oriented Strand Board or Particle Board, engineered wood manufactured from waterproof heat-cured adhesives and wood strands that are arranged in cross-oriented layers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13761\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13761\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/insulated_trim-d.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13761\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13761\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">They covered the side of the sill plate and cabin rail with ZIP System OSB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Taylor (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gradingwnc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fowler Excavating<\/a><\/strong>) used ZIP System OSB. It adds insulation.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>ZIP System R-sheathing is the simple all-in-one structural panel with built-in exterior insulation. Featuring integrated moisture, air and thermal protection, ZIP System R-sheathing completely reimagines traditional wall assemblies by streamlining exterior water, air and thermal management.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huberwood.com\/zip-system\/insulated-r-sheathing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Huber Engineered Woods ZIP System\u00ae Insulated R\u2011Sheathing<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13766\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13766\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/trim_insulation.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13766\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13766\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ZIP System OSB Filler is attached to the perimeter rail and sill plate.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The carpenter built landings for the front and back doors. We plan to have a porch and a carport, but this will be enough (once the steps are done) to pass inspection and get a CO.<\/p>\n<p>Then 1 x 12 Pressure Treated Decorative Trim Boards covers it all. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westwoodcabins.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Westwood Cabins<\/a> provided the trim.
