It has been so long since we started building, I kinda forgot what the model looks like. I\u2019ve been visualizing the house we are building, which is similar, but mirror reversed. I drove out to walk around it again, spend some time and check out some things I hadn\u2019t thought about. Here is an overview of the model.<\/p>\n

Schumacher Homes Blue Ridge Plans – Original<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

These are the original Blue Ridge floor plans from the website. It is very like the Cross Creek we are building.<\/p>\n

Schumacher Homes Blue Ridge Plans – Flipped, more like the Model<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The model is of the Blue Ridge plans. But they have flipped it and added a lot of options.<\/p>\n

This is the front of the house. You come in through the office, which is where the garage would be if you built this house. The house has a smaller front porch than our house will have.<\/p>\n

This is the foyer. It is larger than ours will be, but ours will have more\u00a0 closet. Our front door is simpler, too.<\/p>\n

Great Room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Great Room has a vaulted ceiling with beams. We will have a 9′ ceiling, no vault, no beams. Our house will be a little smaller, but our furniture is on a much smaller scale.<\/p>\n

From the foyer, you see the Great Room through the arch. The model has a vaulted ceiling, a big stone fireplace and lots of built-in shelving. All these options are available and they can price it out for you.<\/p>\n

The shape of the arch is not standard, which is fine by me.<\/p>\n

This is the dining area of the open floor plan. They put in double sliding glass doors. We will have French doors in our house.<\/p>\n

Here is the kitchen. The model is very different from the plans here. You can see they added all of this stone, which I would certainly not want to have to clean in a kitchen.<\/p>\n

They moved the sink. They made the island larger and different. It is altogether less practical than they original plans in my opinion.<\/p>\n

Hallway: Pocket Office and Kitchen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is the hallway off the foyer. The pocket office is on the left. They put the flooring in on the diagonal.<\/p>\n

This is the Pocket Office. Ours will be smaller. More pocket, less office.<\/p>\n

The cabinets and counter tops in the pocket office are standard. There are a lot of options to customize them, just like the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.<\/p>\n

Bedroom #2, Guest Bedroom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is what will be our guest bedroom. It’s what they call Bedroom #2. It looks out the front. We will have fewer windows. And way more bookshelves.<\/p>\n

The linen closet is right next to the bathroom, between the two bedrooms.<\/p>\n

The bathroom is everything you need. Plenty of storage under the sink. Chrome fixtures are one of the standard options. There is a 5\u2032 fiberglass one piece tub and shower combination to the right.<\/p>\n

11′ x 12′ Bedroom #3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is what will be Cliff\u2019s office. It will never look like this. Both bedrooms are 11′ x 12′.<\/p>\n

Double Doors on Closets<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Both bedrooms have good sized closets with double doors. I think that is such a great idea, I changed the walk-in closet off our hall-way to open into the foyer with double doors. Easy to get at everything! The ceiling is 9\u2019 high, so there is even more room to store things in the top of the closet. I have hopes things will stay in closets. Maybe just dreams? Fantasies?<\/p>\n

Master Bedroom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Here is the master bedroom. It is quite a bit smaller than our bedroom is now, but plenty big enough.<\/p>\n

This door from the master bedroom leads to the back porch. We had this on our wish list even before we saw this model.<\/p>\n

Master Bath: Separate Sinks, Deep Soaker Tub and His-n-Hers Closets<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is the temple to bathing. Our house will be nothing like this. It opens to his-n-hers closets. They have double sinks, a ginormous tub, a separate shower, the toilet in a cave\u2026<\/p>\n

I have less interest here, since our house will look nothing like this.<\/p>\n

This is the porch. It opens from a door in the master bedroom like our house will. A very large sliding glass door in the dining room also goes to the porch. Our house will have smaller French doors in the dining room leading to the porch.<\/p>\n

This is the porch from outside. They have a built-in gas barbecue on one end and a built-in gas fireplace at the other end. Our porch will not be screened. If we find we need screens we can add them later. Our porch doesn’t have screen now and it is fine.<\/p>\n

This is the bonus room. It is over the garage. It has more space because there is the shed dormer.<\/p>\n
