They came out with a pump to empty the water out of the trench. Then I couldn&#8217;t figure out where they put it. The thermal expansion tank is supposed to be put where the cold water enters the water heater to create a reservoir for the expanded water. It wasn&#8217;t anywhere near the hot water heater. Finally I found it on the cold water line under the house.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5598\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5598\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5598\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.projectsmallhouse.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/plumbers-hot_water_heater.jpg?resize=500%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"The hot water heater is hooked up and we have steps into the laundry room - The Plumbers Return Again - Project Small House\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5598\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The hot water heater is hooked up and we have steps into the laundry room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They finished hooking up the hot water heater. It is on a platform to make sure it is whatever number of feet that it has to be above flood plain.<\/p>\n<p>They had to add an outlet for a motorized vent to make sure no gas fumes build up in the garage.
