We stayed in this bedroom at Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. This is one of the earliest guest rooms in the Old House, built over the winter of 1903-1904. It is close to the porch roof.<\/p>\n

From the window seat you see Geyser Hill across the Firehole River and a lot of buffalo.<\/p>\n

Old Faithful Inn was designed by Harry W. Child and architect Robert Reamer to look like the rustic camps of the Adirondacks. The style has come to be known as Rustic Architecture or even Parkitecture.<\/p>\n

The walls, ceiling and all of the moldings are of unfinished rough sawn wood.<\/p>\n

Adelaide, Harry Child\u2019s wife selected rustic, comfortable furniture for the original rooms.<\/p>\n

She chose simple, comfortable, unpretentious furnishings, in perfect harmony with the Inn. The\u00a0 Arts\u00a0 and\u00a0 Crafts\u00a0 Movement was popular\u00a0 in\u00a0 America\u00a0 at\u00a0 the\u00a0 time and\u00a0 Mission\u00a0 Style\u00a0 furniture\u00a0 provided\u00a0 comfort\u00a0 without\u00a0 excessive\u00a0 ornamentation.<\/p>\n

Although much original furniture is still left in the Inn, none of this is original. When the rooms were recently remodeled, they drew on a 1929 inventory of furnishings and found available sources for similar pieces.<\/p>\n

The lighting in this room is provided by wrought iron single candle sconces. Throughout the Inn, candlestick electric lights and candelabra give a cozy intimate feel.<\/p>\n
