And I am guessing an old wood mantel is plenty combustible.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Rear: 2\u201d<br \/>\nCeiling: 32 1\/4\u201d<br \/>\nSides: 3\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You wouldn\u2019t want it any closer to the wall than 2\u2033 anyway.<br \/>\nThe stove is 26.5\u2033 wide. the columns on the mantel are 37\u2033 apart. No problem there.<\/p>\n<p>It is the \u201cceiling\u201d that is an issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Minimum Clearances from the Vent Pipe to Combustibles<\/h2>\n<p>We are going to have a short horizontal run. Just like the horizontal stones at Stonehenge. The bottom of the mantel lintel is 40\u201d from the floor. That puts the fireplace 5\u201d off the wall. We wouldn\u2019t really want it any closer than that.<\/p>\n<p>Will it look stupid? Should we get a different stove? We could order legs that are 2.25\u2033 shorter, so the whole stove is shorter, so it can be placed further under the mantel.
