Huber ZIP System®
We’ve been watching the progress of a small house going up in the neighborhood. They are using the ZIP System® from Huber Engineered Woods. So we did some research on the product.

Huber’s website says; “It’s a one-of-a-kind structural roof and wall system with a built-in energy-efficient barrier that keeps moisture out and reduces air leakage, while still allowing panels to properly dry.”

Zip System is a strong, durable engineered wood product with a built-in vapor permeable water-resistive barrier with an insulated layer. So, basically, it is the OSB sheathing with the water vapor coating already on it. It sounds like it makes a cozy, less drafty house.
It looks super easy and fast to use.
- Install the panels.
- Tape the seams.
You choose from three panel thicknesses that can be used for walls, ceilings and roofs.
- Green panels are 7/16″
- Sienna panels are 1/2″ and 5/8″
They say it installs 40% faster than using traditional housewrap.
Faster, easier, lower labor, airtight and water proof… the advantages seem clear.
