Custom 2-Section Modular Home from Westwood Cabins

Mom has been in her ADU behind our house for a year now. It was built by Westwood Cabins. We love the home and the whole process of working with Westwood Cabins was excellent.
Friday Westwood Cabins shared a custom 2-Section modular home on Facebook. We were originally considering something with two sections when we started planning the home for mom. But everything we looked at was either too big or too… shed-like. Take a look at these photos! This has everything we love about the Westwood Cabins, plus the flow of a traditional home.

This is the outside of the house. Those doors open to the living room. The door on the right side of the house opens to the kitchen.
There are photos and a video of two sections joined together to create a small footprint practical home.

This is where the two sections come together. The living room is in one section. The kitchen is in the other.

This photo shows the house before the roof is folded out.
This is the living room side of the house. The first two windows are in the living room. Next is the window in the bathroom. The last window is in one of the bedrooms.

The kitchen is in the other section. The ceilings are vaulted. The walls and ceiling are all natural pine. It looks like Johnson Pine Empire Clear Coat. The kitchen has four windows, plus the windows in the door.

The section on the right has the kitchen in it. The window on this side is over the sink. The kitchen door is on the far right in this photo. The three front windows are into the kitchen. The last window is into the master bedroom. The video walk-through shows the bedrooms.

These are the three windows. The house has a vaulted ceiling and lots of windows like Mom’s house. Even without lights on, the house will be nice and bright.

Mom has a counter-height bar, too. At first she was going to build bookcases under it, but finally got stools for it. That’s where her friends congregate when they visit.
See the cabinet door in the corner? Mom has that too, so there is no inaccessible space in the cabinets. Notice there are also lots of outlets.

Tile backsplash for behind the stove

This kitchen has a hood over the stove and a tile backsplash. We had mom’s wired for a microwave, but she prefers her little countertop microwave and has a painting over the stove instead. (She reconsidered the counter stools, so the microwave over the stove is still possible.)

There is plenty of counter space on both sides of the stove. It is amazing how many plans have a stove jammed up to a wall or a fridge. You need at least some space to work!

There is a window over the sink. I love that. See all of the outlets?

And there is a pantry on the other side of the fridge. Notice the pantry sticks out farther than the counters so there is a LOT of space in it.

High Vaulted Ceilings

I am guessing there is a dishwasher on the other side of the bar. There are a lot of those LED lights that look like recessed lighting. We are impressed with how much light they put out.

There is a half bath powder room off the kitchen, convenient to the living room and the kitchen door.

You can see where the two sections join here. The hallway goes to the second bedroom, bath and laundry room on the left and the master bedroom with a walk-in closet on the right. At the end looks like a walk-in storage closet. The Facebook walk-through video shows this better: Westwood Cabins Custom 2-Section Modular Home Walk-through Video

The bathroom is good sized with a practical layout. It has a window, which I really appreciate.

This is the same sink and cabinet Mom’s cabin has. There is enough counter space. There is enough room left over to add some bath furniture.

The laundry has room for the washer and dryer to side by side, which leaves you the surfaces as work space. The cabinets above add storage that stays neat and organized looking.
