Our Completed Schumacher Home

This is the results of all the research, time, and money. We found land we love and had an easy-to-maintain home built.

These are the final plans with all of the changes.

Our New Schumacher Home
This is the front. It was a cow field when we bought it. The dirt is really good and everything grows.

Open Floor Plan
This is the open floor plan.

Our New Schumacher Home
Living Room
This is the living room, from the dining room.

Our New Schumacher Home
The entire area is 28.5-feet by 22-feet. The living room side takes up about half of it.

Our New Schumacher Home
The hall here goes to the bath, Cliff’s office and the guest room/library.

Our New Schumacher Home
This end of the living room has a growing collection of guitars and other instruments.

Our New Schumacher Home
There are about twice as many as I thought.

Our New Schumacher Home
I just keep pushing the living room furniture closer together so there is room for guitars.

Our New Schumacher Home
Dining Room
This is the dining room from the living room.

Our New Schumacher Home
The table can extend to over 6-feet long and there is plenty of room for it.

Our New Schumacher Home
This is the dining room from the kitchen.
The dog door goes to the back porch. There is a fenced in area of the yard for them.

Kitchen
The only thing I would change in the kitchen is the size of the island. They framed it wrong twice and I had them tear it out and frame it again and again. The third time I decided I didn’t care. I should have cared. The island really is impractically big. It’s hard to keep the center dusted. It sticks out an additional 2-feet into the living room and made the walk space between where the sofa was going to go too narrow so I had to change the furniture arrangement. Annoying.

I love the blue counter tops. There is plenty of counter space to keep my appliances out and still have enough counter to work on.

Our New Schumacher Home
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from Cliff’s office. So it should stay quieter when he is loud and I am sleeping.

The master bedroom is 13-feet wide by 17.25-feet long.

Our New Schumacher Home
The door leads to the back porch.

Our New Schumacher Home
This is standing on the back porch looking in. That door on the right leads to the master bath and closet.

Our New Schumacher Home
There is not a thing I would change. Except the light. I added a larger light because the one in these photos just seemed too small for the room.

Our New Schumacher Home
This area is now filled with art supplies.

Our New Schumacher Home
There is a lot of light when the blinds are open.

Our New Schumacher Home
Another photo of the master bedroom. The bed which was build from an antique twin size bed. The rest of the furniture is all IKEA Hemnes.
This room turned out exactly as I imagined and we are really happy with it.

This is the master closet. It turned out exactly the way I wanted. I wish the IKEA Malm drawers pulled out farther. But not enough to replace them.

Guest Room / Library
These are IKEA Hemnes book shelves. The are really excellent.

Laundry Room
Cliff added cabinets to the laundry room.

There is a lot of storage.

The Back Porch
The back porch is 12-feet by 28-feet.

Currently it has all of the porch furniture that will be on my mom’s porch when it is built, so these are old photos.

Conclusion
The only thing I would change is to make Cliff’s office bigger. It wouldn’t have been difficult at all. It wouldn’t even have raised the price a whole lot. His office is Bedroom 3 on the plan. If we had made it extend as much as the living room, or even as much as the master bedroom… I really just had no idea how much stuff he would have in there.
