Australian Imagine Kit Homes at Home Depot
I pinned homes from Imagine Kit Homes when we were looking to build. They weren’t available in our area then, but they are now. The Bangalow Kit from Imagine Kit Homes in Australia is now available through our local Home Depot.
Imagine Kit Homes says you can “build your own designer home with ease and enjoy the process of being a confident home owner.”
Bangalow Kit
Imagine Kit Homes is in Brisbane, Australia. But they have manufacturing depots here in the United States. The frame kits sold by Home Depot are made in America.
The Bangalow model has two bedrooms and an open floor plan.
The home enters through the kitchen end of the open floor plan with a large deck and lots of glass on the back.
The living room opens to a large back deck.
This is a different view, with a dining table instead of a kitchen island.
This is the view in, from the deck.
Both bedrooms open onto the back deck.
This is the view from the deck into the bedroom. You can see why you would not want the deck on the front of the house.

This is the kitchen without the loft.
This is the same room with the loft and stairs to get up to it.
Why a Steel Frame?
There are advantages to a steel frame over standard 2×4 framing. Steel does not burn, shrink, twist, mold or rot. Termites don’t eat steel.
The kit doesn’t call for any specialized knowledge to assemble. It should take a few days to a week.
The steel frame is “stronger, lighter, straighter and the client can easily install these themselves.”
Imagine Kit Homes steel frame has a 50 year durability warranty.
Modifications
The frame comes pre-constructed, with the locations for the doors and windows set.
You can make the house bigger, adjust or customize the plans, but you need to order it that way.
You can add a loft. There are different roof lines shown.
The standard ceiling height is 8-feet, but you can change the height to 9 or 10 feet.
