Kitchen Drawer Organizers
The new kitchen has a lot more storage. There are six drawers. Five are very wide and they are deeper than the drawers in my last kitchen.
I was using the organizers from IKEA. They were exactly the right width for the old kitchen drawers, but now I have more space.
I have a lot of silverware. I entertain a lot (when there is not a pandemic). I have service for 24. I used to only leave about half in the drawer and put the rest away with the tablecloths. But with this much space, why not have it all together?
Sterilite makes inexpensive cutlery trays. I could put a few of them in the drawer to fit everything.
The Sterilite 5 Compartment Cutlery Trays are surprisingly well made, especially for as little as I paid. I think it could be ideal for most people for silverware, but it doesn’t fit anything any bigger.
The sides are a little over 2 ½”. Some things fit, but most things don’t and it’s not really practical for this drawer.
I ordered these from Hexology. I like the concept.
Innovative design keeps your kitchen drawers clean. Dirt and crumbs fall through the open hexagons, keeping contents cleaner. Shake the tray, remove it from the drawer, and wipe up the dust that was left behind.
They come in two sizes. I ordered the large, 16″x13″.
It was not ideal. The sides are low, only 2”. Lower than the little inexpensive Sterilite drawer organizer.
It probably would be fine for storing 12 of everything, but let’s see if I can find something that will work better.
If Spectrum Diversified Hexa isn’t the same thing, it is almost the same. These come in more sizes, but aren’t any taller.
I looked for something that has higher sides.
These drawers are deep. The sides are only 2 ½” high, but the drawer will close over something even more than 3 ½” high.
mDesign makes divided storage organizers in all different sizes. I searched for mDesign Divided on Amazon to see the options. They are listed as being for Storage, Bathroom or Office. There are a lot of different dimensions available.
After looking at everything, I picked some that are 12” x 12”, 3.5” high, and are divided into 4 compartments.
There is a discount when you order them in quantity, so I ordered four.
The sides are high, higher than the sides of the drawer. But they are not too high to close.
I used two to hold the silverware. Everything fits. It’s not snug. They might shake around. But, I think I can live with that.
I used the other two to sort out two of the other drawers.
The drawers seem a lot emptier now, even though there is just as much in them.
