BOXABL Customizable Modular Homes Ship Small and Unfold On Site

Boxabl delivers small houses. They build small houses, from to a very tiny Baby Box at 120 square feet up to a Three-Bedroom Casita with 1,083 square feet. They are available as Park Models, built to RV building code and as modular homes, placed on a permanent foundation.

They are factory-built home modules that are shipped folded down for lower delivery cost. The sections, modules, are mass-produced in a single standard size with very little variation available in the basic layout to save time and money. But interior and exterior finishes and roof-line and trim packages can make a big change to the look.

Boxabl Casita Studio is is 19’x19’ with 9.5-foot high ceilings. It folds down to only 8′ 6″ wide × 19′ × 12′ 4″ high.

The homes come off the assembly line as a blank slate.

The builder that sets up your home can personalize your home. The website says that factory customization packages will be available later.

The small house or ADU can be finished to match your home or your neighborhood.

It’s remarkable what a difference exterior finishes can make to the appearance of the home.

This Boxabl Casita Studio has log-look siding to make the modular look like a log cabin. Log siding is available flat on the back and rounded on the front to look like real logs.

Shipped Folded Up

What makes Boxabl Casitas unique is that they are shipped folded up, then unfolded on-site. A lot of modular homes are shipped with the roof folded up and hinged, to be unfolded as the home is set.

The smallest Boxabl Casitas modular is the Casita Studio at 361 square feet. It is 19’x19’ with 9.5-foot high ceilings. The interior has a normal sized kitchen and bathroom with a living area. It folds down to only 8′ 6″ wide × 19′ × 12′ 4″ high.

This saves a LOT on shipping. Anything wider than 8.6-feet and higher than 14-feet* has to pay for permits and have pilot and/or escort vehicles. Wide loads also have restrictions on hours and days of travel. The company that delivered our cabin only around 100 miles cost us $1,400.00. And that was a lot less than other options were going to cost.

The one and two bedroom Casitas are made from two of these unfolded boxes. The three bedroom has three. They can be assembled side-by-side or stacked. They all come complete, with plumbing and electricity, even the appliances.

There is an announcement about a Boxable Model Home in Bagdad, Arizona at 104 Lindahl Rd. That must be 104 S Lindahl Rd, right off Main Street. Google Satellite view shows a small box that might be a model home. Google Street View shows an empty pad and steps to nowhere. I found no contact information. I wouldn’t make a special trip without more information.

*or so, it varies a little by area
